The Company and the Makivik Corporation - which oversees the political, social and economic development of the Nunavik territory – signed an agreement in 1995 that includes profit sharing and guaranteed contributions to the Inuit of Nunavik. In particular, those people living in the villages of Salluit and Kangiqsujuaq are benefiting fully from the project’s economic spin-off’s, with guaranteed contributions and operational profit-sharing payments over an 18-year period made into a trust fund. In June 2011, the company presented the Makivik Corporation with a cheque in the amount of Cdn$15.2 million. To date, more than Cdn$100 million in profit-sharing payments have been directed to an Inuit trust fund for economic and community development through the Raglan Agreement.
The Raglan Committee serves as the formal forum, between Raglan and the Inuit. With members from the local Inuit community, the committee’s main areas of focus are training, Inuit employment and environmental stewardship.
